The choir performing in
the Cowdray Hall, Aberdeen on 5 June

Welcome...
Sing Aberdeen
Thank
you for visiting our website. The 35-strong
SATB Aberdeen Orpheus Choir sing traditional
carols, masses, jazzy pieces and folk songs
in up to eight-part harmony. Apart from many
good friendships, it is the shared love for
music that brings the choir members
together.
When
the choir was founded its aim was to provide
a selection of music that would appeal to
all tastes. The choir's name reflected the
ever-popular Glasgow Orpheus Choir, whose
special choral qualities of fine diction and
blend of tone it was to emulate. The choir
has maintained that aim ever since.
The
choir sings in a variety of venues, which
have included cathedrals in Edinburgh,
Dunblane, Dunkeld, Inverness, Dundee and
Aberdeen, as well as churches and halls in
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. In recent years
it has been invited by the National Trust
for Scotland to sing a series of very
popular Christmas concerts in the Great Hall
of Castle Fraser, has had its own Christmas
concerts in Ferryhill Parish Church, and has
enjoyed the fine acoustics of Cowdray Hall
during its spring concerts with the Albyn
School Ensemble.
New members are always welcome! For more information click on "Sing With Us!".
At our
concert on 5 June 2009, we were privileged
to perform the World Premiere of Jennifer
Jones' arrangement of three "Auld Scots
Sangs", Helen of Kirkconnel, My faithfu'
Johnnie and Comin' thro' the rye.
